Day One — Throwing
The first day focuses on the foundations of throwing off the hump and working efficiently with larger amounts of clay. Participants will explore:
* Efficient techniques for centering larger amounts of clay
* Throwing multiple forms off the hump
* Creating cups, bowls, and vases, including a small Moon Jar form
* Removing finished forms from the hump without distortion
* Body mechanics that support a more comfortable and sustainable throwing practice
Day Two — Production & Tools
The second day builds on these foundations with a focus on production throwing, traditional tools, and developing greater speed and consistency. Participants will explore:
* Making traditional Korean throwing tools
* Production throwing techniques
* Trimming demonstrations
* Improving consistency across repeated forms
* Developing speed, rhythm, and efficiency at the wheel
By the end of the workshop, participants will have a stronger understanding of Korean production throwing, practical experience throwing multiple forms from a single mound of clay, and a foundation they can continue to develop in their own studio practice.
Korean snacks and refreshments will be provided throughout the workshop for participants to enjoy.
